| Mauricio Mejía was born in 1956 in San Salvador, El Salvador. He studied drawing and painting at the Academy of Master Valero Lecha. He graduated from the School of Applied Arts with a specialty in Graphic Design, from the University" José Matías Delgado ". He was awarded a scholarship by the Ibero-American Institute of Madrid so he could visit museums and cities in Madrid.
He is the initiator of the “Wixnamickcin” group, and a founding member of VOLARTE (Volunteers for the Art).
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, in places such as: The Museum of Art of El Salvador (MARS); in the “Revisions” exhibition, at the OAS Museum of Art, Washington, United States; at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Museum, Taipei, Taiwan; at the Latin American Art Festival, in Mint Museum, Charlotte, North Carolina.
In 2011 he was recognized by the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of El Salvador as “Meritísimo Painter”, for his artistic career.
